Mission Notes:
This mission goes by a lot faster if you don’t have to do the achievements, otherwise you need to be careful – save often. Get all battlecruiser upgrades and spam these out of your stardock like crazy, support them with science vessels/ravens and don’t overextend your cruisers, keep your repair units just outside the rift field.
Yamato spam key objectives and the mothership when it arrives, it’ll keep disappearing.after it’s health gets low and you’ll have to repeat the process till it’s gone
Good Luck
Mission Notes:
Say goodbye to your ship, buy all upgrades and do any missions you forgot, as you’re not coming back. Welcome to Char, home of the Zerg and Kerrigan.
You must rescue remaining survivors and make it to the general before it’s too late
Good Luck.
Mission Notes:
This is the easier of the two choices you get as you only have to focus on a small squad. However know that if you choose this in the final mission you will have to deal with a lot of air units.
Pretty straight forward mission, the hero units are already hotkeyed for you and the trick is to use their abilities liberally unless you are saving up for an incoming wave. There is a part where I used Jim Raynor to draw in units and fired a shot, thats how I got my one shot 50 kills achievement, you may want to save/load till you get the achievement, often you get just short of 50 kills so keep reloading till you do.
Mission Notes:
The alternate mission if you decide to listen to General Warfield’s advice. You need to take down four generators that are powering the Zerg air base. You need to build and expand your base quickly to support your economy and take out the zerg. The hard achievement requires you to complete this mission in 25 mins, so I went with vikings/banshee combo and had to suicide run to a few generators. Battlecruisers are good but too slow, without time constraints it’s much easier to yamato cannon the generators and the Leviathan that appears, but mass vikings do the trick. Once the Leviathan is down (he spawns after you take down the second generator) build mass banshee’s and rush their generators, bring your SCV’s to the center of the map to quickly repair and save time.
For defending the chokepoints that lead into my base I filled up one bunker with marines, a siege tank deployed behind it, psi disruptor) and two AA turrets on each side, worked very well with 2 SCV’s healing.
Mission Notes:
One of the two possible final battles, this one is the tougher battle as you have to face off against air units and two heroic units (Kerrigan and the Leviathan). You get this version of the finale if you destroyed the Nydus worm network but in doing so left yourself exposed to air attacks.
However I managed to do it using a pretty straightforward defense, mix of different units. It’s absolutely critical that you build your hivemind / psi disruptor. Kerrigan is best taken out by rushing her with marines with stimpack on, she usually focuses them one at a time which is better for you as you won’t have to loose an expensive unit.
My base defenses consisted of 3 bunkers each entrance, filled with marines, 3 -4 missile turrets, 1-2 siege tanks and 2 thors each entrance. Also build a few battlecruisers and have them defend an area you aren’t concentrating on.
Vikings are excellent at shooting down out of range broodlords, do not engage the leviathan as he will destroy most of your air units and you’ll be overrun. Instead keep the vikings at a safe range and keep shooting the broodlords while your SCV’s repair the missile turrets/bunkers.
Make sure to have 1-2 battlecruisers guard the south end of your base from the zerg that can quickly wipe out your SCV’s. A few missile turrets will also help a lot.
Follow this guide and you shouldn’t have a problem, enjoy the ending of this epic game.
